By the order of Mayor Kenney, Philadelphia had a mandatory curfew last night that started at 9 p.m. and ended at 6 a.m. this morning. This comes after two nights of protests and riots after the fatal shooting of Walter Wallace, Jr., a 27-year-old African American man, by Philadelphia police following an armed standoff, where Wallace had been approaching family and police with a knife. Along with the mandatory curfew put into place, the Nation Guard was called into the city last night in case riots broke out again. This is the second time that the Nationa Guard had to come to Philadelphia, following the protests and riots that followed the death of George Floyd at the hands of police earlier this year.
Election Day is this coming Tuesday. You can vote in-person, by mail, or drop off your ballot at a designated satellite location.
