  • The second presidential debate between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden has officially been canceled following disagreements between the two about the possibility of a virtual debate. The Trump campaign has argued that there is no reason the debate can not go on as normal, despite the President contracting COVID-19 just last week. Both candidates have agreed to still partake in the third and final debate, which will be held on October 22 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
  • A former Philadelphia police officer has been charged in the murder of an unarmed man in 2017. Eric Ruch Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder after the shooting of Dennis Plowden, an unarmed Black man, after a traffic stop. Plowden was driving a car not registered in his name when he was pulled over in the Ogontz Avenue area of the city. The time between Plowden being pulled over and being fatally shot by then-Officer was a little more than 2 minutes. The autopsy of Dennis Plowden shows he was shot directly in the head and through his left hand, indicating he had put his hands up before being shot.
  • More than 1,000 birds have been found dead in the city of Philadelphia after they had flown into several skyscrapers. The Philadelphia Audobon Society, after cleaning up the dead birds, estimated over 1,500 birds died as of last Friday. The main culprit in these deaths is the clear windows found on the skyscrapers, which birds are unable to see and fly right into, usually breaking their necks on impact. The high amount of birds dying were part of the bird migration happening right now.
