  • Vice President Mike Pence and Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris had their first and only debate last night at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. The two candidates, kept apart through social distancing and plexiglass shields, were questioned by moderator Susan Page of USA Today. The hour and a half debate covered the coronavirus response by the Trump administration, which Pence has been a key figure in, national and international politics, and the records of each candidate on important socio-political issues like abortion, healthcare, and race relations in the United States. Compared to the first presidential debate, the evening was mostly civil, with a few barbs from each candidate to the other on the political history of their presidential candidates. The night was also highlighted by a guest appearance of a fly on Mike Pence’s head, which appeared while he was discussing police and the protests happening throughout the country. Each candidate ignored major issues brought up, including abortion rights and the health of their presidential candidates, who are in their 70’s.

Governor Whitmer gave a speech later on that denounced the group and their plot while touching on the level of division in America.

He then drove off, got a flat tire, and carjacked a woman, fatally shooting her in the process. After shooting at police, the man was fatally shot by police after a 10-minute standoff.
