Trenton Thunder will celebrate Latino Heritage in June 2019

TRENTON–As a celebration of Latino Heritage and in conjunction with Minor League Baseball’s “Copa de la Diversion” initiative, the Trenton Thunder will become “El Trueno de Trenton” for three games this June 2019.

“Trenton is home to approximately 30 thousand Hispanic and Latino residents, which accounts for about 35% of the city’s population. I am thrilled to welcome and celebrate all Hispanic and Latino community members this summer at ARM & HAMMER Park.”said Jeff Hurley Trenton Thunder’s General Manager.

The Press Conference at ARM & HAMMER PARK in the morning and the event on afternoon on Monday, March 18 at the Boys & Girls Club on Centre Street was a great success. Trenton Thunder put over 100 Trueno T-Shirts on the kids. Boomer made an appearance. Trenton Thunder gave away free tickets to Thunder games and all had a really great time. The Trenton Thunder will transform into the Trueno de Trenton with specialty uniforms for games on Saturday June 1st, Saturday June 8th, and Saturday June 29th 2019.

El Trueno de Trenton will be on Saturday, June 1 Copa night will celebrate the Dominican Republic, Saturday, June 8 will celebrate Mexico and Central America, and Saturday, June 29 will celebrate Puerto Rico. Each of the three dates will feature Trueno merchandise, live music, fireworks, and local restaurateurs selling their food in the ballpark. Saturday, June 8 will have an added bonus for fans, the Trueno will giveaway Player Card Strips featuring Gary Sanchez, Luis Severino, Gleybor Torres and Miguel Andujar to the first 1,500 fans ages 6 and over.

About 30 percent of Trenton’s population are native Spanish speakers and many of them like baseball but have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy the games that are played in the Trenton Thunders stadium.
